SoCal Area SA Intergroup
All recognized SA groups in Los Angeles, Orange, Ventura, and Santa Barbara counties belong to the Southern California Area of Sexaholics Anonymous. Each local group is highly encouraged to send a Group Service Representative (GSR) from their meeting to the monthly business meeting of the Southern California Area SA Intergroup. This business meeting is currently held as a hybrid meeting (zoom and in-person) on the last Saturday of the month. The in-person location is in Long Beach. Only members with 90 days or more of continuous sexual sobriety may vote at the meeting, but all members are welcome to attend and participate as a GSR or as an observer. Here is the Intergroup’s “Statement of Purpose“: The Southern California Area Sexaholics Anonymous Intergroup is a service board representative of SA groups in Southern California whose members put their experience, strength, and hope into practice to solve common problems and help carry the message to sexaholics who still suffer. Its primary purpose is to strengthen the unity of SA and help sexaholics achieve sobriety. To this end, the Intergroup shall meet regularly, providing a forum for communication and unified action by the various Southern California groups in maters of publicity, outreach, fellowship, regional and national service, and such other matters as may require cooperative effort. It is to be remembered that this Intergroup is dedicated to service in the interest of all SA groups in Southern California; it is not a governing body.
Monthly All Groups Speaker Meeting
All SA members are invited to attend the monthly All Groups Meeting held at 7PM immediately following each Intergroup meeting. This is a Speaker Meeting with 2-3 speakers from meetings in the SoCal area sharing their experience, strength, and hope. Please send us an email if you would like to be added to the email distribution in order to be provided the Zoom link or the in-person location for this meeting.
SA Service Manual
The SA Service Manual is a work in progress and is intended for use by members serving at the group, intergroup/area, regional, and national levels. Comments and suggestions are welcomed and can be directed to your Intergroup Representative (IGR) to the Southwest Region or to one of the Region’s Delegates (GAD).
Meeting Update Form
Until further notice, please send any updates about your local SoCal area meeting to the intergroup’s email address at info@sasocal.org. This includes updates about any of the following: Zoom numbers or other virtual meeting log-in numbers, dial-in phone numbers, switch to or re-start of in-person or hybrid meetings, etc.
Protocol Concerning Special Meetings
In May 2020, the SoCal Area intergroup approved a Protocol Concerning Special Meetings; ie, those meetings which are exclusive to men only, women only, same-sex attracted only, etc. The Protocol offers suggestions for how all of our groups can fulfill their primary purpose for carrying the message of SA to the suffering sexaholic.
